Matt and I started this site in October of 2006 as an evolution of our old stomping grounds, RabidHardware. While that site had a good run on the ol’ etherweb, it’s narrow focus severely restricted us in content (being affiliated with the tech/modding scene). Suffice to say, it’s just not where we’re at anymore. idle thoughts from minds most broken was established as a clearing house for thoughts, ideas and schemes, safe from any particular focus or affiliation. Consider yourself warned. And now, your faithful hosts..

Miracuously my real name is indeed Ben. I’ve resided in the great white north since my inception, back in the foul year of our lord, nineteen hundred and eighty.

By day I piddle time away as an on-site computer/network geek perhaps for the sole purpose that it comes easily to me. Aside from that I had been running a DIY distro on the side the past few years, but it’s shutdown at the moment while I get something new put together.

Aside from jobstuffs, I’m also into camping, drinking, going to shows, drinking, computer stuff, and I like writing. To that effect, I’ve spent a decent amount of time these past few years writing articles for people, mostly for tech sites (specifically virtual hideout and the now defunct rabid hardware). People always wanna know what kind of music you’re into. For auditory input I prefer punk, electronic, industrial, old-school hip hop and other stuff. Vague enough? I’d even put bluegrass in there somewhere, although strictly reserved for the coffinshakers and luther wright (and the wrongs), the latter of which expertly covers pink floyd’s the wall in its entirety (check it out sometime, it’s fucking hillarious).

I’ve been interested in computers and electronics and other such things for most of my life. I’ve even managed to turn that hobby into a career in IT. Perhaps not such a good idea? Who knows. Along with the whole computer thing I’ve also got somewhat of an addiction/sickness when it comes to spending money on cars and racing. I’m involved in a local civic club (civicevolutions.com) and am currently building up a racecar that I hope to run later this year.

On top of all that stuff I’ve got a wonderful girlfriend that I enjoy spending time with, two dogs, and a bunch of other useless hobbies that I hardly seem to find time for. If there is one thing I’ve learned in the three years since RH has started it is that life is quite the adventure, and it is your family of friends that are what matters.
